Their Decline
The Hindu Maratha Empire was the main source of the destruction of the Mughal Empire. This was due to the expansion of the Mughal and Hindu Maratha empire. Afterwards, a new prince was the Emperor–that’s when things started to go down. Without the former Emperor Aurangzeb, there were peasant revolts.
The Mughal Empire declined due to the money the emperors spent on luxurious parties and other self-owned pleasures. The Taj Mahal, one of the finest monuments of India, was built under the Mughal reign, costing the country a fortune. The land at which they conquered was far too vast in scale and had become impossible for one ruler to control and govern from one center. A huge reason for the decline of the empire was because of the Mughal Army. The soldiers lacked in training, discipline, and cohesion, which made the empire itself vulnerable and unprotected.
While the Mughal Empire was weakening, the British and French, who had initially gone to India as traders, took advantage of the dynasty’s state and soon conquered all of India. The Mughal dynasty soon seized to exist, and
British India formed.
